Probate
After death, a will must pass through probate. Probating a will is the act of validating a will in court. Paying all the debts and taxes of the deceased person’s (decedent’s) estate is another necessary function of probate. After the bills and creditors are paid, the remaining assets are divided up according to the provisions of the will or as required by Indiana law.
